In some cases, it’s no matter that if the phone was under the water even for more than 1 -2 minutes. Why? Short circuiting through the water causes to shut it down the motherboard quickly and prevent it from further damaging.
However,
That all depends on how the phone makes the first contact with the water….
Means, if that was some sensitive sector, even a drop of water is enough to make some critical damages.
Anyway, it’s some sort of rare happening.
Follow these recovery steps……
1.Take the phone out from the water as soon as possible.
2.Don’t press any button, even the power button. Remove the battery?
3.Get a piece of dry cloth and wipe the phone well.
4.Screw out the back cover. Loose all the ribbons and detach the motherboard from the main casing.
(Be careful while doing this. Make sure that no damages to the motherboard, ribbons or ribbon slots)
5.Wipe the motherboard for water.
You’ll see some sectors of the motherboard are covered by holed aluminum casings. Pretty sure that water may be still there.
6.Keep it as casings into the downside and shake the motherboard hardly until make it sure that no more optimized water driblets are coming out from these casings.
7.Wipe the motherboard again for new water driblets.
8.Get a hair dryer and set it to the medium temperature and speed.
9.Point the hot air stream into some certain region of the upper side (Where you can see covered sectors) of the motherboard and continue for some time.
10.Touch the region where the hot air stream was pointed and get an idea about its heat.
This means, NOT TOO MUCH……. It’s not allowed for untouchable high temperatures. Doing it several times on different regions will give you an idea that how long does it take to reach into the acceptable climax with no harm.
11.Continue it for 5 cycles.
(Cycle: - Covering of all the areas of the motherboard will be counted as a cycle)
With 5 cycles, you’ve pointed the hot air stream, 5 times, into same region of the motherboard.
12.Now go to the other side of the motherboard and do the same.
In some models, screens are well attached to the motherboard and hard to remove. If it’s so, don’t waste time on there and continue blowing with the screen.
Since screens are very isolated, no chance with inside watering. So, there’s no need streaming into the screen. But, still there a big chance for remaining water between the screen and the motherboard. So, side blowing will be essential.
13.Continue this for 25 cycles……
[Important] Don’t forget to turn the side for each 5 cycles.
After the process done, more than 85% of water would be vaporized………
14.Wait for some time till fully cools it down the motherboard.
15.Start the next phrase for another 20 cycles.
16.Let it cool down again…….
17.End the process with last 10 cycles.
18.Shake the motherboard hardly again and make sure that no water is remaining.
This time you must do this while pointing motherboard into a white-sheet. There you can see even small drops if existing.
19.If you’ll see something doubtful, repeat it for another 10 – 15 cycles.
OK, it’s over……….
But,
Still there’s a possible risk with unbalanced power loading, occurred as a result of short circuiting (Though water).
20.Wait for 20 – 24 hours and let them to discharge over the motherboard itself and thin air.
Get ready to power it on……..
21.Fix all ribbons properly, mount the motherboard into the main casing and screw up.
[Important] Some phone models have external antenna where located inside the phone that makes contacts with the motherboard though a touch point. If it won’t be placed accurately, you’ll see poor signal strength or nothing.
22.Set the back cover but don’t screw….
That’s because………. Continue reading…………….
23.Fix the battery without battery cover.
24.Power it up the phone…...
i.Check that is the screen coming properly.
ii.Check that is the touch panel working properly
iii.Check the signal strength.
iv.Check audio.
v.Check for abnormal temperatures.
How?
Don’t get any calls, run apps or videos………
a.Touch the battery. In default, it should have very soft temperature like nothing.
b.Touch different places of the cover…… you should NOT be able to feel a considerable temperature anywhere at ll.
Turn it off the phone as soon as possible when,
i.Freezing or flickering screen.
ii.Abnormal sound.
iii.Improvement of backlights than normal.
iv.Abnormal temperatures.
If everything is OK, do nothing and keep the phone in power it on mode for around 30 minutes.
25.Power it down the phone and screw the back cover, restart & use.....
If the phone doesn’t work at all or shows some malfunctioning signs after the recovery attempt, this post will explain you that how to deal with them.
